Norvascis an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) that reduces the hypotensive effects of angiotensin II (ACE) and angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB-II) in patients with hypertension. In hypertensive patients, the efficacy of Norvasc has been studied in two controlled trials, and in a large, controlled study, Norvasc significantly improved the hypotensive effect of angiotensin II (ARB-II) in patients with mild to moderate congestive heart failure.
Norvasc, the first angiotensin II receptor antagonist, was approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1995 for the treatment of hypertension in patients with congestive heart failure. It is the only angiotensin II receptor antagonist that has received FDA approval for the treatment of hypertension in patients with congestive heart failure.
Norvasc is a novel type of ARB that has proven to be very effective in the treatment of heart failure, angina pectoris, coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, and other heart failure conditions, as well as in other heart failure conditions. Its ability to reduce the hypotensive effects of angiotensin II (ARB-II) has proven to be useful in many patients with stable angina.
Norvasc is available as an oral tablet or as a liquid suspension (liquid) with a daily dose of 5, 10, 20, or 30 mg.
The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of Norvasc in patients with stable angina, and to evaluate the effects of Norvasc on the hypotensive effects of angiotensin II (ARB-II) in patients with coronary artery disease and other heart failure conditions. This was a large, controlled, double-blind, controlled, parallel group, randomised, single-center, parallel-group, randomised, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, double-blind, non-inferiority study. The study included patients with stable angina, coronary artery disease, and other heart failure conditions. The patients were evaluated for the occurrence of any side effects (e.g., hypotension, angina, dyspnea, worsening of symptoms, etc.). All patients were randomized to the study treatment group (n=722). The primary endpoints were the occurrence of a hypotensive effect ( hypotension, angiotensin II, ARB-II, and placebo) and the occurrence of adverse events (e.g., gastrointestinal bleeding, heart failure, etc.). The secondary endpoints were the occurrence of the following: (1) the need for hospitalization for hypotension and the occurrence of a stroke, (2) the occurrence of a heart attack, (3) the occurrence of a myocardial infarction, and (4) the occurrence of an angina attack. Patients were also evaluated for any adverse events (e.g., chest pain, abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, etc.). The primary efficacy measure was the occurrence of a hypotensive effect, which is the primary endpoint of this study. A comparison of Norvasc versus placebo (1 mg/day) was also made in patients with stable angina and other heart failure conditions. Patients with stable angina and other heart failure conditions were assigned to either Norvasc or placebo treatment. In addition, patients were also evaluated for any side effects (e.g., heart failure, dizziness, weight gain, fatigue, headache, rash, etc.). The treatment group was treated with Norvasc, 5 mg/day. In the Norvasc group, the mean baseline systolic blood pressure (SBP) was lower in the treatment group than the placebo group, and there was a significant difference in the systolic blood pressure (SBP) (p=0.0074) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (p=0.0193) between the two groups. The treatment group was also more likely to have a hypotensive effect in the event of angiotensin II (ARB-II) compared to the placebo group.
This study was conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and with the protocol of the Declaration of Helsinki and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Before the study, the patients were given information about the study and written consent was obtained from all patients.
All patients were evaluated and enrolled in the study. A total of 6-week, random, open-label, crossover, open-label study was conducted in accordance with the protocol and with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
controls high blood pressure for a full 24 hours and can be used to treat the chest pain of angina. NORVASC works to relax your cat's blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily through them. The end result is lower blood pressure and less angina which makes for a healthier kitty.
PrecautionsDo not administer Norvasc to animals with extreme hypersensitivity to the drug. Norvasc also exhibits the tendency to interact with other medications such as diuretics, which results in low blood pressure. Before administering the medicine to the pet, pet owners should consult a veterinarian to determine the medications that should be avoided in animals that having hypertension. Certain drugs such as phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and asthma medications can create high blood pressure. Monitor blood pressure at regular intervals during treatment.DosageNorvasc is usually available in 2.5 and 5 mg tablets. The usual dosage for cats is 1/4 of a 2.5 mg tablet once daily orally for controlling blood pressure. However, an extremely high dose of 1/2 of a 2.5 mg tablet twice daily is given for effective control. Dogs are generally administered 0.025 to 0.05 mg per pound once daily or 2.5 mg/dog, orally.
